Welcome to the Division Series! It’s October 3, and every team has advanced, sadly leaving my two favorite teams, the San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox, in the dust. These series will feature some of Baseballs Brightest, and I can’t wait to see how all these games pan out.
ALDS: #4 New York Yankees @ #1 Toronto Blue Jays
This series is one we have been anticipating for a while. These teams tied for the AL East title at 94-68 each, with the tiebreaker going to Toronto. The Yankees are coming off of a very close series with the Boston Red Sox, who won Game 1 3-1, under Garrett Crochet’s 117 pitch gem. Game two featured a rough first two innings by Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello, who gave up a two run homer in the first to Ben Rice. For the Yankees, Carlos Rodon mowed the Red Sox offense down until Trevor Story tied the game at 3-3 with a solo shot. But that was short lived due to the blinding speed of Jazz Chizolm Jr, who was the deciding run. In Game 3, there was nothing else to the game other than utter brilliance from Walpole, MA native Cam Schlittler. Connely Early pitched a good first three innings before exiting in the fourth. The Yankees advanced, winning 4-0. This series will feature power, speed, pitching and so much more. Verdict: If Aaron Judge can start a power stroke, that would be key to the Yankees, but if Toronto’s excellent pitching and great offense lead by George Springer can hold up like it did all regular season, than I see the ALCS returning to North of the Border.
