Here we are, in the middle of January, waiting for baseball after a booming off-season. Last season ended with a bang; Miguel Rojas and Yoshinobu Yamamoto led the Dodgers from the jaws of defeat to the summit, and the Blue Jays fell from the peak to the abyss. It is obvious that this season we will be in for something awesome.
American League East
- Toronto Blue Jays 101-61
- Boston Red Sox 95-67
- New York Yankees 88-74
- Baltimore Orioles 83-79
- Tampa Bay Rays 78-84
Toronto is looking for revenge. After being so close last year, they had a good off-season, signing former Cy-Young winner Dylan Cease from free agency. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vlad Guerrero Jr. puts up 40 bombs and puts his name in the MVP conversation. Prediction: Playoff legend Trey Yesavage wins ROTY. Moving on, the Red Sox had an interesting off-season. Losing Alex Bregman was a blow, but they replaced him with First Baseman Wilson Contreras and pitchers Sonny Gray, Ranger Suarez, and Johan Oviedo. This might be the best rotation in the league, and I expect the BoSox make a splash. Ace Garrett Crochet wins the American League Cy-Young. Next, the Yankees. They really didn’t do very much in the off-season, but we do know that they will lose former MVP Cody Bellinger, who has said that he doesn’t want to come back to the Bronx. Overall, the Bronx Bombers are still a very good team, but getting older. Prediction: The New York Yankees win fewer than 90 games. The Baltimore Orioles let everyone’s hopes down in 2025 with a horrendous season, after making the playoffs for the past 2 years. I expect them to pick the pace back up after picking up slugger Pete Alonso from the Mets. I would be surprised if they don’t win more than 75 games. Prediction: Pete Alonso hits the most HR’s of his career in 2026. Lastly, the Tampa Bay Rays. This team has not too much to be proud of aside from their rising star in Junior Caminero. Luckily, the farm system looks strong, so hopefully the Rays will be back to World Series potential in a few years and be back in Tropicana or a new park. Prediction: Junior Caminero finishes top 3 in MVP Voting.
